SABRES SIGN FALK TO ONE-YEAR EXTENSION

BUFFALO, N.Y. (February 6, 2017) — The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has signed defenseman Justin Falk to a one-year contract extension worth $650,000.

Since joining the Sabres as a free agent on July 1, 2016, Falk (6’5”, 222 lbs., 10/11/1988) has appeared in 35 games for the team, posting three assists and averaging 13:11 of ice time per game.

A fourth-round pick (110th overall) in the 2007 NHL Draft, Falk has recorded 27 points (2+25) in 206 games during parts of seven NHL seasons with Buffalo, the Columbus Blue Jackets, the New York Rangers and the Minnesota Wild. The Snowflake, Manitoba native has added 42 points (9+33) in 270 AHL games during six AHL seasons, including 10 games with the Rochester Americans in 2016-17.

SABRES RECALL THREE FROM ROCHESTER

BUFFALO, N.Y. (November 15, 2016) — The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has recalled forwards Nicholas Baptiste and Evan Rodrigues, and defenseman Justin Falk, from the Rochester Americans (AHL).

Baptiste (6’1”, 206 lbs., 8/4/1995) has appeared in 10 games in his first NHL season for the Sabres this year, including each of the team’s last eight games, tallying two goals. He scored two goals for the Amerks in Rochester’s 3-2 win against the Springfield Thunderbirds on Sunday to improve his AHL totals to seven points (5+2) in six games this season.

Rodrigues (5’10”, 183 lbs., 7/28/1993) joins the Sabres on his first recall of the season after recording a goal and an assist in two games during his first NHL season with the team last season. The Toronto, Ontario native recorded 30 points (9+21) in 72 games during his first professional season with the Amerks in 2015-16 and has tallied eight points (3+5) in 13 AHL games so far this season.

Falk (6’5”, 222 lbs., 10/11/1988), who appeared in both of the Sabres’ games against the New Jersey Devils last week, has a plus-3 rating in 10 games for Rochester this season. In 173 career NHL games, Falk has recorded 23 points (2+21) and 151 penalty minutes.

Falk (6’5”, 222 lbs., 10/11/1988) joins the Sabres for his first recall of the season after signing with the team as an unrestricted free agent on July 1, 2016. The Snowflake, Manitoba native has a plus-3 rating in nine games for Rochester this season. In 171 career NHL games, Falk has recorded 23 points (2+21) and 151 penalty minutes.
