SABRES RECALL FEDUN FROM ROCHESTER

BUFFALO, N.Y. (October 20, 2017) — The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has recalled defenseman Taylor Fedun from the Rochester Americans (AHL).

Fedun (6’1”, 201 lbs., 6/4/1988) has one assist in three games with the Americans this season after signing a two-year contract extension with the Sabres in June. He appeared in 27 NHL games during the 2016-17 season, recording a career-high seven points (0+7). He also led Sabres defensemen in assists per 60 (1.16) and his 5-on-5 shot attempts percentage (53.7%) ranked 23rd among all NHL defensemen with more than five games played in 2016-17.

Through parts of four NHL seasons, Fedun has totaled 14 points (2+12) and a plus-3 rating. In 295 regular-season games throughout his six AHL seasons, he has recorded 156 points (37+119) and a plus-20 rating, adding eight points (4+4) in 28 playoff games.

In a corresponding move, the Sabres have placed forward Jacob Josefson on injured reserve.

SABRES SIGN JOSEFSON TO ONE-YEAR DEAL

BUFFALO, N.Y. (July 1, 2017) — The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has signed forward Jacob Josefson to a one-year contract worth $700,000.

Josefson (6’0”, 190 lbs., 3/2/1991) recorded 10 points (1+9) and 16 penalty minutes for the New Jersey Devils during the 2016-17 season. A seven-year NHL veteran, Josefson has totaled 60 points (18+42) and 78 penalty minutes in 276 career games, all with the Devils.

Drafted by New Jersey in the first round (20th overall) of the 2009 NHL Draft, Josefson has added 40 points (15+25) in 60 career AHL games for the Albany Devils. Before turning pro, the Stockholm, Sweden native represented his country at two IIHF World Junior Championships, winning a silver medal in 2009 and bronze in 2010.
