SABRES ASSIGN 10 TO ROCHESTER

BUFFALO, N.Y. (September 23, 2017) — The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has assigned forwards Eric Cornel, Vaclav Karabacek, Stevie Moses and Kevin Porter, defensemen Brycen Martin, Casey Nelson and Devante Stephens, and goaltenders Jason Kasdorf, Jonas Johansson and Adam Wilcox, to the Rochester Americans (AHL).

The Sabres now have 36 players (21 forwards, 12 defensemen and three goaltenders) on their training camp roster.

SABRES TRIM CAMP ROSTER TO 33

BUFFALO, N.Y. (October 1, 2016) — The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has released 17 players from its training camp roster.

12 players have been loaned to the Rochester Americans (AHL): Forwards Justin Bailey, William Carrier, Daniel Catenacci (pending waivers), Eric Cornel, Jean Dupuy, Vaclav Karabacek, Justin Kea, Evan Rodrigues and Cole Schneider (pending waivers); defensemen Brady Austin and Brycen Martin; goaltender Jason Kasdorf.

Five players have been released from their tryouts and will report to Rochester for training camp: Forwards Matthew Lane and Daniel Muzito-Bagenda; defenseman Mac Bennett and Paul Geiger; goaltender John Muse.

The Sabres now have 33 players (18 forwards, 12 defensemen and three goaltenders) on their training camp roster.

SABRES INK FORWARD CORNEL

BUFFALO, N.Y. (March 25, 2016) — The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has signed forward Eric Cornel to an entry-level contract.

In his fourth OHL season in 2015-16, Cornel (6’2”, 191 lbs., 4/11/1996) set career-high marks in goals, assists, points and plus/minus rating while serving as captain of the Peterborough Petes. He ranked eighth among all OHL skaters with 56 assists and tied for 13th in the league with 83 total points (27+56).

The Peterborough, Ontario native appeared in 265 regular-season games for the Petes during his OHL career, amassing 213 points (70+143) and 91 penalty minutes, and added eight more points (4+4) in 16 postseason contests. He registered 50 or more points in each of his last three OHL seasons and led all Peterborough skaters in assists in each of the last two.

Selected by the Sabres in the second round (44th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft, Cornel made his professional debut at the end of the 2014-15 season after signing an amateur tryout with the Rochester Americans, recording one assist in six AHL games.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (September 24, 2015) — The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has released six players from its training camp roster.

Forward Colin Jacobs has been loaned to the Rochester Americans (AHL) and forward Eric Cornel has been returned to the Peterborough Petes (OHL).

The Sabres also released four players from their tryouts: Defensemen Josh Chapman and Spiro Goulakos; goaltenders Keegan Asmundson and C.J. Motte.

The Sabres now have 50 players (30 forwards, 15 defensemen and five goaltenders) on their training camp roster.

(September 23, 2014) — The Buffalo Sabres have returned 10 players to their respective junior clubs: Forwards Joseph Blandisi (Barrie, OHL), Eric Cornel (Peterborough, OHL), Michael Joly (Rimouski, QMJHL), Vaclav Karabacek (Gatineau, QMJHL), and Jack Rodewald (Moose Jaw, WHL); Defensemen Ryan MacKinnon (Charlottetown, QMJHL), Brycen Martin (Swift Current, WHL), and Jared Walsh (Mississauga, OHL); Goaltender Francois Brassard (Quebec, QMJHL).
