SABRES ACQUIRE MONTOUR FROM DUCKS

BUFFALO, N.Y. (February 24, 2019) — The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has acquired defenseman Brandon Montour from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for defenseman Brendan Guhle and a first-round pick in the 2019 NHL Draft.

“Brandon is a young, offensive-minded defenseman who can play the up-tempo style we are looking to play,” said General Manager Jason Botterill. “He’s a right-shot defenseman that brings additional playoff experience to our club.”

Montour (6’0”, 193 lbs., 4/11/1994) joins the Sabres in the midst of his third NHL campaign and led Anaheim defensemen with 25 points (5+20) through 62 games this season. In 169 career NHL games, Montour has recorded 63 points (16+47) and a plus-11 rating, adding eight assists in 21 career playoff games.

The Brantford, Ontario native was named USHL Defenseman of the Year in 2014 before being selected by Anaheim in the second round (55th overall) of the 2014 NHL Draft. Montour was named to the 2014-15 Hockey East All-Rookie Team during his only season at the University of Massachusetts before turning pro. He earned consecutive AHL All-Star Game appearances in 2016 and 2017 and was named to the AHL First All-Star Team in 2016.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (December 22, 2018) — The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has assigned defenseman Brendan Guhle to the Rochester Americans (AHL).

SABRES RECALL GUHLE FROM ROCHESTER

BUFFALO, N.Y. (December 16, 2018) — The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has recalled defenseman Brendan Guhle from the Rochester Americans (AHL).

After appearing in 18 games with the Sabres in 2017-18, Guhle (6’2”, 196 lbs., 7/29/1997) joins the Sabres for his first recall of the season. He has posted 13 points (3+10) through 25 AHL games with the Americans this season.

A native of Edmonton, Alberta, Guhle has totaled five assists in 21 career NHL games since being selected by the Sabres in the second round (51st overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft.

In a corresponding move, the team has placed defenseman Lawrence Pilut on injured reserve.
