SABRES TRIM CAMP ROSTER BY 12

BUFFALO, N.Y. (September 27, 2015) — The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has released 12 players from its training camp roster.

Ten players have been loaned to the Rochester Americans (AHL): Forwards Justin Bailey, Nicholas Baptiste, Jerry D’Amigo (pending waivers), Jean Dupuy, William Carrier, Daniel Catenacci, Justin Kea, Jack Nevins and Philip Varone (pending waivers); goaltender Andrey Makarov

Two players have been released from their tryouts and will report to Rochester for training camp: Forward Matt Garbowsky and defenseman Matt Prapavessis.

The Sabres now have 38 players (20 forwards, 14 defensemen and four goaltenders) on their training camp roster.

SABRES RECALL MAKAROV FROM ROCHESTER

BUFFALO, N.Y. (March 30, 2015) — The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has recalled goaltender Andrey Makarov from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Makarov (4/20/93, 6’1″, 186 lbs) joins the Sabres for his fourth career NHL recall after being signed by Buffalo as an undrafted free agent in 2012. With the Amerks this season, Makarov has played in 37 games, recording a 15-17-3 record with a .902 save percentage and 2.98 goals-against average. After joining the Amerks in March 2014, he helped the team close out its regular season by posting a 7-3-0 record, while registering a .927 save percentage and a 2.20 goals-against average.

In the 2014 Calder Cup Playoffs, Makarov went 2-3-0 in five games played and recorded a .907 save percentage and 3.01 goals-against average.

SABRES RECALL HACKETT FROM ROCHESTER

BUFFALO, N.Y. (March 7, 2015) — The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has recalled goaltender Matt Hackett from the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League (AHL). The team also announced forward Mikhail Grigorenko and goaltender Andrey Makarov have been assigned to the Americans.

Hackett (6’2”, 171 lbs., 3/7/90) last played for the Sabres when he was with the team for a one-game recall on Jan. 26. With the Amerks this season, Hackett has posted a 7-4-1 record with a 2.72 goals-against average and .907 save percentage.

The London, Ontario native appeared in eight games for the Sabres during the 2013-14 season, including a 35-save performance in his Sabres debut, a 3-1 win at Edmonton. Hackett has appeared in 22 NHL games in parts of three seasons with the Sabres and Minnesota Wild, compiling a .910 save percentage and a 2.89 goals-against average.

Hackett was drafted by Minnesota in the third round (77th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft and acquired by the Sabres on April 3, 2013.
