SABRES RECALL WILSON

The Sabres have recalled forward Scott Wilson from the Rochester Americans (AHL) and assigned goaltender Andrew Hammond to Rochester.


Highlights:

  • Joins the Sabres for his third recall of the season after recording two points (1+1) in four games with the team during his last recall earlier this month.
  • His nine goals in just 29 games with Rochester (AHL) this season rank sixth among all Americans players, and he has recorded four points (2+2) in his last four games played for the Amerks.
  • Won a Hockey East title with UMass-Lowell in 2013 before beginning his professional career and won the Stanley Cup with Pittsburgh in 2017.

SABRES RECALL GILMOUR, HAMMOND

The Buffalo Sabres have recalled defenseman John Gilmour and goaltender Andrew Hammond from the Rochester Americans (AHL).


Highlights:

  • Signed with the Sabres on July 1, 2019 and appeared in his first four games with the team earlier this season.
  • Made his Sabres debut on Oct. 25 at Detroit and logged a season-high 19:56 of ice time on Nov. 1 at Washington.
  • Was named to the 2018-19 AHL First All-Star Team after finishing last season among the AHL’s top 10 defensemen in goals (2nd), assists (8th), points (2nd) and game-winning goals (2nd).

  • Signed with Buffalo as a free agent on July 1, 2019 after posting the best goals-against average of his AHL career (2.81) in 2018-19 with the Iowa Wild. Is currently on pace to set a new AHL career-best mark this season.
  • Joins the Sabres for his second recall of the season after dressing as the team’s backup on Feb. 9 vs. Anaheim.
  • Has played in parts of five NHL seasons, earning all but one of his 56 career appearances with the Ottawa Senators.

The Buffalo Sabres have recalled goaltender Andrew Hammond from the Rochester Americans (AHL).


Highlights:

  • Signed with Buffalo as a free agent on July 1, 2019 after posting the best goals-against average of his AHL career (2.81) in 2018-19 with the Iowa Wild. Is currently on pace to set a new AHL career-best mark this season.
  • Has a 3-1-0 record in his last four games with the Americans, posting a .932 save percentage and a 2.02 goals-against average in those contests.
  • Has played in parts of five NHL seasons, earning all but one of his 56 career appearances with the Ottawa Senators.

NOVEMBER 3 ROSTER MOVES


The Sabres have recalled defenseman Lawrence Pilut from the Rochester Americans (AHL) and placed defenseman Marco Scandella on injured reserve.

Goaltender Andrew Hammond will travel with the team for the 2019 NHL Global Series in Stockholm, Sweden.



  • Split time between Buffalo and Rochester (AHL) in his first North American season in 2018-19.
  • Totaled six points (1+5) in 33 NHL games and 26 points (4+22) in 30 AHL games in 2018-19. He led all AHL defensemen with more than five games played in points per game (.87).
  • Leads all Rochester defensemen and is tied for third on the team with .75 points per game so far in 2019-20.

SABRES SIGN GOALTENDER HAMMOND

BUFFALO, N.Y. (July 1, 2019) — The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team has signed goaltender Andrew Hammond to a one-year contract with an AAV of $700,000.

 

A six-year veteran, Hammond (6’2”, 223 lbs., 2/11/1988) has 56 games of NHL experience with the Ottawa Senators and Colorado Avalanche, including two extended stays with the Senators in 2014-15 and 2015-16. During those two seasons, Hammond went 27-12-6 and ranked among the NHL’s leading goaltenders with a minimum of 15 games played in save percentage (2nd, .927) and goals-against average (8th, 2.21).

 

In addition to his time in the NHL, Hammond has appeared in 132 AHL contests for the Binghamton Senators, Belleville Senators, San Antonio Rampage and Iowa Wild. The Surrey, British Columbia native has a 62-55-6 career AHL record.
