TONIGHT’S GAME

- This is the first of four meetings between the Sabres and Lightning this season.
- Last meeting: Buffalo defeated Tampa Bay, 4-1, in Tampa Bay on Nov. 10, 2015
- Next meeting: Thursday, Jan. 12 in Tampa Bay
- The Sabres are 2-7-1 in their last 10 games vs. the Lightning; 3-5-2 at home
- This is the 91st game all-time between Buffalo and Tampa Bay; Buffalo has a 52-31-7 series record.
- The Sabres are 24-16-4 at home against the Lightning all-time.
THIS DAY IN SABRES HISTORY
- The Sabres are 8-11-1 all-time on November 17.
- November 17, 1979: John Gould scores twice and Don Edwards stops 35 shots as the Sabres top the North Stars 4-2.
- November 17, 2005: Taylor Pyatt scores a hat trick in Buffalo’s 8-5 home win over Washington.
THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW
- The Sabres are looking for a win tonight to avoid the team’s first three-game regulation losing streak since Jan. 20 to 25 and its first six-game winless streak since Dec. 28, 2015 to Jan. 8, 2016.
- Buffalo is seeking a second consecutive win against Tampa Bay for the first time since the team’s wins on March 19, 2012 and Feb. 26, 2013.
- The Lightning will be looking to win their fourth consecutive game in Buffalo for the first time since they won four straight in Buffalo from March 19, 1995 to Oct. 15, 1996. The Sabres’ last home win against the Lightning was a 2-1 shootout victory on Dec. 2, 2014.
- If he dresses tonight, Josh Gorges will appear in his 700th regular-season NHL game. He and Jets forward Chris Thorburn, who can also reach this milestone tonight, would become the 106th and 107th active players to reach 700 games.
- Kyle Okposo has 18 points (5+13) in 23 career games against the Lightning.
