BUFFALO, N.Y. (November 13, 2014) – The Buffalo Sabres today announced the team will be hosting a recycled clothing drive before their game against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, Nov. 15.
The Sabres’ Green Team is sponsoring the event, and will be collecting clothing, shoes and towels starting at 5 p.m. in the atrium of First Niagara Center as fans enter the building. Fans who donate will receive a coupon for 25 Fan Advantage points, which can be used to redeem prizes from the store in the Sabres’ new Fan Advantage smart phone application.
The drive is part of ‘WNY Wear it Forward,’ which is a collaboration of Erie County, the City of Buffalo, Elmwood Village Association, Goodwill of WNY, The Salvation Army of Buffalo, Buffalo City Mission, AMVETS, and Hearts for the Homeless. They have formed Western New York Coalition for Donated Goods (WNYCDG).
The coalition’s mission is to educate the public on the benefits of recycling and donating goods and to provide donation opportunities. All clothing donated on Nov. 15 will be divided among members of the coalition.
The Buffalo Sabres are dedicated to the sustainability of the environment in Western New York and Southern Ontario through the “Blue & Gold Make Green Initiative.” The organization is committed to creating programming to help our fans reduce their environmental footprint and at the same time, educate Sabres fans on conservation issues, teaching fans how to be greener, and directing them to additional resources where they can learn more about environmental issues.
The Buffalo Sabres Green Team is presented by National Fuel’s conservation incentive program and proudly supported by our green partner Modern Recycling.
