BUFFALO, N.Y. (March 27, 2014) — The Buffalo Sabres today announced that legendary Buffalo broadcaster Rick Azar will be signing copies of his new book, “Tales From Azar’s Attic: A Look Inside a Broadcasting Career,” before the team’s home game against the Tampa Bay Lightning on March 29 at First Niagara Center. The book signing will take place from 5-7 p.m. at the Sabres Store, where copies of the book will also be available for purchase.
Azar, who first came on the air for WKBW-TV in 1958, had a storied career as a sports anchor and broadcaster that spanned more than 30 years. As one of Buffalo’s best-known broadcast personalities, Azar brought the many significant sports stories from around Western New York into viewers’ homes for the better part of three decades, until his retirement in 1989.
A Canisius College graduate, Azar was inducted into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame in 1997 and the Buffalo Broadcasters Association’s Hall of Fame in 1998.
