In-Game Notes: 9/25 vs. CBJ

*The Sabres haven’t lost a preseason home game in regulation since Sept. 21, 2007; they’ve gotten at least a point in their last 11, going 8-0-3 in those games and outscoring their opponents, 39-25.

*The Sabres are 8-6-0 all-time in preseason contests against the Blue Jackets; 2-2-0 at home.

*The first of three regular season meetings between the Sabres and Blue Jackets will take place on Thursday, Oct. 10 in Buffalo. The teams will then meet twice in eight days with a game at First Niagara Center on Saturday, Jan. 18 followed by a trip to Columbus on Saturday, Jan. 25.

After 1st period: CBJ 0 – BUF 0
*The first period was only the second scoreless period in the preseason for the Sabres so far. The other was the first period vs. TOR (9/21).

*Defenseman Mark Pysyk led all Sabres with a TOI of 7:27 in the first period, trailing only Blue Jackets defenseman Tim Erixon (7:51).

*The first period is the only one in which the Sabres have been outscored during the preseason (2 GF, 4 GA). Buffalo has outscored its opponents 8-6 in the second period and 7-4 in the third.

*The Sabres have also only been outshot in the first period (59 SF, 67 SA). They have tied opponents with 49 shots in the second period and led in the third (51-46).

*Buffalo is 0-0-1 this preseason when tied after the first period; Columbus is 1-0-1 when tied after one.

After 2nd period: CBJ 0 – BUF 1
*With Ville Leino’s (1+2) goal and Cody Hodgson’s (1+2) assist, the pair joined five other Sabres to create a seven-way tie for second-most preseason points among Sabres, with three. Marcus Foligno leads with four (3+1).

*Blue Jackets goaltender Jeremy Smith relieved starter Mike McKenna at 10:53 of the second period. McKenna finished with 14 saves on 15 shots (.933 SV%, 1.94 GAA).

*The Sabres have killed off all six Columbus power play opportunities so far tonight, improving to 15-for-15 on the penalty kill at home in the preseason and 24-for-26 (92.3%) overall.

*Steve Ott’s TOI of 14:29 through two periods leads all skaters on either team; his 4:11 of SH TOI leads all skaters in the game.

*Jhonas Enroth has stopped 21 shots through two periods, including 11 while shorthanded.

*Buffalo is 1-0-1 this preseason when leading after the second period; Columbus is 1-1-0 when trailing after two.

*The Sabres are 1-0-1 when scoring the first goal; the Blue Jackets are 2-1-0 when allowing the first goal.

*INJURY UPDATE: Joel Armia left the game in the second period with an upper-body injury*

*Jhonas Enroth stopped all 26 Columbus shots, including 13 while shorthanded, to earn the Sabres’ first shutout of the preseason.

*The Sabres killed off all seven Columbus power plays, improving to a perfect 15-for-16 on the penalty kill at home and 25-for-27 (.926) overall in the preseason.

*Mike Weber finished the night with three assists. His last three-point outing came on March 13, 2011 vs. OTT (0+3).

*Mikhail Grigorenko (6 GP) and Zemgus Girgensons (4 GP) have tied Marcus Foligno (3 GP) for the team lead with four points apiece. Eight Sabres have three points.
