In-Game Notes: 9/21 vs. TOR

Pre-game
*The Sabres have won their last six preseason home games, with their last loss coming on Sept. 17, 2009, a 4-3 overtime loss to the Washington Capitals. In those six wins, the Sabres outscored their opponents, 26-11.

*The Sabres are 32-27-6 all-time in preseason contests against the Maple Leafs; 13-9-4 at home.

*Buffalo and Toronto will face off three times in 2013-14, beginning with a home-and-home series on Nov. 15 and 16.

After 1st period: TOR 0 – BUF 0
*Defenseman Jamie McBain led all skaters on either team with a TOI of 8:20 in the first period.

*The first period was the first scoreless regulation period of the Sabres’ preseason.

*Buffalo is 0-0-0 this preseason when tied after the first period; Toronto is 0-0-1 when tied after one.

 

After 2nd period: TOR 0 – BUF 2
*With Mark Pysyk’s first goal of the preseason, the Sabres have now gotten a league-high eight goals from rookies in four games (Girgensons-2, Larsson-2, Armia-1, Grigorenko-1, McNabb-1, Pysyk-1).

*Despite playing in only two of Buffalo’s four preseason games so far, Marcus Foligno leads the Sabres with three goals and is tied for the team lead with three points.

*Buffalo has scored eight of its 14 preseason goals in the second period.

*Buffalo is 1-0-0 this preseason when leading after the second period; Toronto is 0-0-0 when trailing after two.
