THIS DAY IN SABRES HISTORY
March 28, 1999:

STORYLINES

  1. The Sabres will look to bounce back from a 2-1 loss at Tampa Bay on Tuesday. Buffalo hasn’t lost consecutive games in regulation since their four-game losing streak from Feb. 17-23, going 7-4-3 since that stretch.
  2. The Sabres have had 12 of their last 14 games decided by one goal. Buffalo is 6-3-3 in those 11 games and 9-8-4 in their 21 one-goal games this season.
  3. After Tuesday night’s 2-1 loss at Tampa Bay, Buffalo will look to avoid being swept on a Florida road trip for just the fifth time in 28 attempts. They have swept nine of the previous 27 and earned between one and three points in the other 18 sets.
  4. Jason Pominville’s team-leading 29 points (11+28) in 29 games against the Panthers is his second-best per-game output against an Eastern Conference opponent, trailing only his 35 points (16+19) in 29 games against Tampa Bay. Pominville has points in eight of his last nine games against the Panthers (5+8).
  5. Thomas Vanek’s team-leading 17 goals in 29 games against the Panthers is his second-best per-game output against an Eastern Conference opponent, trailing only his 23 goals in 30 games against Tampa Bay.
